Investment Opportunities

The government privatized 136 companies between 1987 and 2000, raising 1.340 MDT, of which 902,7 MDT from foreign investments. By the end of 2005, 194 companies had been privatized at a total value of TND2.4 billion ($1.8 billion).

Privatization are carried out according to three methods :

• Appeal for tender or specification
• Sales of major control blocks, followed by the sale of the remaining capital by public offers
• Opening part of the capital to the private sector
Moreover, certain public utilities or infrastructure work are opened to private investments in the form of a B. O. T.
